Mother's Girl

We got our little Chihuahua Mother’s Girl from a Puerto Rican Family in Gardena. The family couldn’t keep her in their apartment any more, so we took her. She was a tea cup Chihuahua and any other dog that came around she was the smallest but definitely let them know she was the Alpha. Our whole family took such great care of her & she ate the best only Cesar’s. She was already trained to “Go Bye, Bye” and jump in her little pink Neiman Marcus bag. She was a Diva before we got her. She ran on three legs, eventually her eye stopped making tears, the more decrepit she got the more we loved her. We will all miss her deeply.

West Coast Choppers

We had a great day enjoying the many talent’s of Jesse James. His show room is amazing great bikes and cars. He named his restaurant after his pit bull Cisco. Elijah had a vanilla shake that was delish! My mom & I were reminiscing about the 60’s when she was in a biker movie named Hard Ride, I guess all the bikes triggered that memory. It was the name of the movie that had me perplexed, I thought I knew my mom all these years. Great Day!

Vacation Bible School

Today we wrapped up another year of Vacation Bible School. Volunteerism is something I am very passionate about, this will be my third year at VBS volunteering. This week I had a group of 20 first grade students. All the children were well mannered, full of lot’s of energy , big smiles & laughter. Children from the community participate in a week of fun filled bible stories, games, music & arts & crafts. On Thursday night we had an ice cream social & the kids sing the songs they learned and parents come to watch. The kids wore their pirate headbands they made in craft on Tuesday. When the children sing my heart melts. It’s like heaven opens up, the church comes alive with their sweet little voices echoing through the church. The theme of the week was The Pirates who don’t do anything & calling all Hero’s. I am an advocate for children and they all are hero’s to me! Here is a picture of some my Family at the performance. This is a picture from last year of Carrie, Stephanie & I at VBS.I have learned so much humility from these two women. I am very grateful for this opportunity to be a part of VBS and work with so many wonderful people.

Shave It

Elijah & I went to try out the new shaved ice place in Norwalk today on Studebaker & Firestone. The place is called Shave it. When they were building it I though it was a Barber Shop. Any way the concept is really cool you pick what flavor you want & you can even mix it with ice cream. The motif is really cool you feel like your in a ice castle the way they did the tiles, mirrors and walk way. They definitely sell an atmosphere even though the shaved ice was excellent. There is three flat screen TV’s playing core sports such as surfing, snowboarding & “skurfing.”(Skurfing-is like water skiing but with a surf board) The music is really hip & set’s the vibe. I felt far away ,like I was out of town, hip beach feel. The shaved ice was $3.09 but we got so much more from this cool find. It reminded me of my first job at Penguins. The videos reminded me of my Father who used to be a avid surfer. My Billabong poster’s that used to be all over my room when I was a tween. Even reminded me of walking to Stone wood for an ice cream at Thrifty’s for 10 cents! I liked what I read on the menu “If your going to walk on thin Ice, you might as well dance!!” On the following link the Dictionary was a fun read and in Ice Life the "shaveit-izms" http://shaveitnation.com/frames.html

A.M. Party

Melea had a little party for Austin’s 8th grade graduation. She rented a water jumper and ordered pizza. Austin invited all his friends. They had a blast on the waterslide, they are so energetic. The three M&M’s were all there to celebrate & chaperone, but this was a great group of boys, we just needed to celebrate. Austin ,I’m so proud of you keep up the great work!!

Go Lakers!!

This morning we got all ready to celebrate the Lakers victory in our living room! It was so nice to see all the fan’s that our team has. It is great to be part of a city that has such devotion and appreciation for the Lakers. I loved what Phil Jackson said “The Ring” was their motto. A circle of bond of a team with great love for one another. What a journey to winning the Championship. It was very evident all the fans showed up in groves to the parade. It was music to my ears to hear Kobe say “Where I’m going to go? L.A. is my home.” when asked if he would be back next year.It is nice to come together with such a cohesive team and city wearing purple & gold, representing L.A Lakers the city of champions!!! A few of these pictures are from earlier in the season, us at the game.

Quit Wishin' Go Fishin'

Today we had a great day fishing at Santa Ana River Lakes. Elijah & Seng caught two fish & were so happy. The Pond got two new goats today that just roam around & you can actually touch them. A little girl practically hog tied this one in the picture . Elijah & I were on a nature walk and he found this little egg under some shrubs. When we first got to the pond we saw this Peacock with these little sweet ducklings following her. I thought it was so cute a Mother’s instinct is to always to nurture and be the leader of the pack!
